Snowmen

Image
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  Children celebrated a few fun things this morning.  We celebrated winter by making (and then eating) snowmen and the children made books about the snowmen they made.  They also got to play with their clay pieces that they have been working on for the first time this year.  Over the past few months the children carefully made many clay pieces, dried them, glazed them and this week Ms. Katie fired them for us in the kiln!  Yesterday afternoon we got to see the newly fired pieces for the first time and this morning children were ready to create fairy worlds with them!  The children are already planning what to create next and we can't wait to see the next stage of their work! We hope that you all have a wonderful winter break and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Movie and Makerspace

Good morning, Oak Room Family!  The children enjoyed building and making out of several materials this morning as well as popcorn and a movie.  We were so happy to have warm enough weather to play a lot outside as well.  The children continue to excitedly share their plans for winter break with each other! Have a great day!

Graham Cracker Houses

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  Today the children celebrated winter with 2 fun activities!  They made winter houses out of graham crackers and decorated them and they also gathered with Willow Room in the Collaboratory to watch The Snowman!  Some of the children were drawing gingerbread houses earlier in the morning.  It was exciting to use edible materials for a continuation of their maker space activities! Have a great day!
