Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children were very excited to celebrate HP’s birthday today with a “movie” and popcorn! It was also great to get a break from the rain and have some good time outside! Have a magnificent Monday!

I Like Myself!

Today, friends in the Oak room spent some time discussing what it means to be unique.  We read the book  I   Like Myself   by Karen Beaumont to further our conversation. IF stated "GM and I both have blonde hair! But we are are different, too". Friends began sketching their self portraits with Ms. Emily. While drawing, they pointed out what shapes they saw in their drawings. Stay tuned to see what these pieces turn into! Have a fantastic weekend!

The Language of Paint

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! In the Reggio Approach to education we see that children have many languages or ways to communicate and express themselves and we take time to explore many of those languages so children have the opportunity to see what materials give them meaningful expression. Today we continued our paint work with a different type of paint and a different brush material. Have a wonderful day!

Neighborhood Walk with Maple Room

The children also identified ways that they are already showing kindness with each other at school and how kindness makes them feel.  Children also enjoyed pointing out and discussing with each other everything they were noticing in the neighborhood.  It was a fantastic walk! JK: "There are some letters! A, B, C, D, E, F, G" JK: "There are more letters! A, B, C, D, E, F, G" AH: "I found more letters!" "I found another heart!" CS: "I see more pink... these flowers are changing colors" CS: "I see a firefighter" When we returned from ...

Happy birthday, Ms Emily!

Image
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! This past weekend was Ms Emily’s birthday and as Ms Emily is very beloved by the students they were eager to secretly work together to make Ms Emily a birthday surprise! The children created pictures for Ms Emily that were tied together into a birthday book that they presented to her with much love!  Children love Ms Emily because she is kind, patient, caring, present, fun and wonderful in every way! Happiest of birthdays to Ms Emily!  Students suggested that she may have turned 70 on her birthday 😂 Have the happiest of days!
