AFC Oak

Today the children began working on their self portraits.   We had a discussion with the children and asked them "what's in a face?"  Everyone was eager to share their ideas including that people have different shaped faces; some that are shaped like a circle, some shaped like an oval and some people who have kind of long and pointy faces.  After much discussion we set up a table with mirrors, paper and pencils for the children to begin their self portraits.   We also set up a variety of materials including loose parts inviting the children to create and design faces.  We loved all their amazing designs! Friends also enjoyed creating with the lincoln logs and colored shapes on the light projector. Have a wonderful afternoon!  

We have had such a wonderful and fantastic day! The children were so excited to have a Pj day and what better way to add to the excitement...Popcorn and a movie!  So much fun! We also honored this friend by celebrating his past birthday! His friends sang the Birthday song to him and to celebrate his special day he requested a bubble party with his friends.  We wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and hope you find time to enjoy the rest of week with your families! Happy Monday Oak Room Families!  We hope you all had a wonderful relaxing long weekend!  Today was all about building and creating structures.  In the Collaboratory friends worked together building a house with the large blue blocks as well as moving through the obstacle course and jumping on the trampoline. This friend noticed the mirrors in the ceiling and excitedly said "Look! You can see people up there!" Back in the classroom the children were busy painting and constructing towers with painted blocks.   An invitation with mirrors and colored jewels were also set up with the question "What kind of face can you make?" Check out their creative face designs! EF - I made a rainbow face. NP - This is a snowman face. "I made a mixed up face." "Now it's a alien snowman face!" Have a great afternoon!
