Day 2 - The Great Cicada Adventure

Our morning has been very exciting!  We set up an invitation with some nature and magnifying glasses for the children to explore.  They were very engaged and loved looking through the magnifiers.  They even took them around the room checking out various materials and loose parts with them as well.

They loved using their hands to explore the kinetic sand making it into different shapes and talking about the texture as they explored. GI said "this is so fun!" GP said "it's sticky, that's why it's called kinetic!"

We explored a new space today.  Our friends were excited to play on the hillside and enjoy the snail.  Some friends were overly excited when they found some living nature on a tree.  They found a live cicada! In discussion about what they noticed some of the children shared:
JB: "The mulch because it didn't have it and now it does"
EmO: "I noticed the cicada. It had pretty wings and red eyes and I got to touch it!"
AV: "A bug was hopping to a log."
NP: "The snail was kind of different because there were different colors."
GN: "The snail had rainbow circles"
EF: "The butterfly had orange wings"
NN: "The yellow and black butterfly, they have yellow and black wings"
GP: "I noticed the cicada. They eyes were reddish brown. It had red and brown on the body and green on half of the wings."

The children are having a great second day of school, we hope you are too!
