9/19/22 - Class Pet Update - Metamorphosis!

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  Two of the pupae changed over the weekend.  Before looking at them when asked what they thought happened students had a range of answers including many more than the following:

RN: "They shed their skin and got a new one. Then they turned into a fly."

GN: "They turned into a beetle."

EF: "They turned into something with their skin."

EmO: "They  shed their skin and maybe turned into beetles."

GP: "Just like a caterpillar they change into a cocoon."

NP: "Maybe they turned into mealworms?"

Students then got a chance to see how the pupae changed.

GN: "There's two beetles!"

LM: "They're different! One beetle is brown and one is light."

NP: "Maybe we can keep them in a cage and we can learn more about beetles and mealworms."

NP: "It was metamorphosis. It would turn into an egg and then into a mealworm and then turn into a beetle."

What shapes can flowers be?
FL: "They can have a heart shape"
RN: "They can be circles"
EF: "They can have long stems"
JB: "You know they can be square because I've seen them like that before and a rectangle too"

What can you make with clay?

JB: "I made a chicken!"

NP: "This is my giraffe. He has a long neck."

NN: "I made a rock giant"

LM: "These are little mermaids with baby eggs on them. This is a big mermaid with a egg on her tail"

CC: "I'm making a snowman. I'm rolling balls to make a big one."

RN: "Look at my shell. It has a handle with a ball inside of it."

Have a great week!
