Mr. Kevin Helps with the Cars!
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! You may remember that we went on a box hunt last week in search of boxes that could be made into cars. Two phenomenally giant boxes chose the students for this project and the children immediately welcomed the boxes into Oak Room. After the boxes and children spent some time getting to know each other the children drew intended features onto the boxes but progress was halted because we did not know how to cut out the features. Luckily for us, our beloved custodian, Mr. Kevin, had just the right tools and expertise to help us out of this problem. The children showed Mr. Kevin where they had drawn the doors, windows, and windshields and how they should work. With skill and care, Mr. Kevin carved the boxes until the features of the cars were freed from their confines. Through collaborative planning, imagination and negotiation the children together transformed boxes into shiny new cars ready to hit the roads for sunny San Diego! Paining has begun on Oak Room's shiny new cars with more features and updates planned by the children. The journey has begun, we look forward to following this ride to see where we go! A huge thank you to the patient and kind Mr. Kevin for bringing so much cheer on a cold rainy day!
