Creating Worlds through the Language of Colors

Colors have been an integral part of our daily learning whether we are drawing, painting or designing with a variety of materials. Today, we revisited our colored blocks with rainbow pebbles; colored stacking blocks with people and posed the question "What kind of world can you create through these frames?" It wasn't surprising to hear friends talk about Jack and Annie, how they were creating the world of Frog Creek Pennsylvania and the Frog Creek Woods.  Here's what some of them had to say...
"I'm creating Jack and Annie's world, Frog Creek Pennsylvania. This is Jack (orange) and this is Annie (yellow.)

GNF - I made Jack and Annie's tree house in the forest.

We added paint, water colors and glitter to our glue and watched as friends told stories of Jack and Annie through their beautiful art.

GP - Annie's feet are sinking in the sand because she's on the beach.
FL - Jack is running away from Captain Bones.

We continued studying colors through light with the use of a mirror, flashlights and prisms. We love seeing how the light reflects against the ceiling and floor creating beautiful colors of a rainbow.

When you put the light closer to the floor it becomes smaller and when you move it away it becomes bigger and bigger.

Lastly, we continued working on creating a musical instrument.  We added more wire to the log, plucked the strings and listened to the sounds it made. NP said "it's like a piece of wood that makes sounds because it has these wires and it can make noise like a Ukulele or a guitar. You just have to use your imagination."

Have a wonderful afternoon!
