Imaginative Play
Good afternoon Oak Room Families! Cheers to another beautiful day full of joy, and a day filled with lots of fun learning and laughter with our friends! The castle blocks are always inviting and the children use their imagination to build, create, and tell stories about their designs. Friends worked at the table re-creating stories through their castle building from the Jack and Annie book series. Here are some of their designs and what they were making.
NP - I'm building a big castle with a moat like the one in the Knight at Dawn and this is the moat.
FL - I'm making the door to the castle.
GP - This is the elevator that goes up to the attic in the castle.
So, the pirates live down here and the big pirate lives on top because he's big.
EO is thinking of where she wants to add this block to her structure.
She puts it on top and carefully, as she focuses, adds another block to the very top.
EF and EO designed a large castle using the big blocks.
Friends were excited to explore with the playdough they made earlier in the week.
GK made a robot.
JB made a beautiful butterfly.
These friends did not want to end their castle work inside, so we extended our designs outdoors. Unfortunately, the wind kept blowing over their work. The friends didn't let it stop them from continuing but that lasted only a short time before they decided to just let it go. Besides, the weather was way too nice and, of course, playing with the other friends seemed to be much more inviting and off they went. However, check out them out as they tried building and listen to some of their laughter as they worked together.
RN puts wood on the top of the frame that's holding the paper in place to help keep it from flying over.
Have a wonderful afternoon!
