Scavenger Hunt
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children were full of energy and the weather was beautiful this morning so we took some of our work outside today. The children went on a scavenger hunt on the playground and then recorded what they found. Before embarking on the hunt the children considered what they would need to bring out and chose magnifying glasses, nature magazines, nature guides and bug cages to support their investigation. Children found colors, shapes, letters, creatures, various parts of nature and more. They helped each other when someone did not know what something was and worked together collaboratively to find and record their data. We have been so fortunate to have such beautiful weather this spring and can make such wonderful use of all of our outdoor spaces. Wellness has often been tied to exposure to nature so in addition to the scientific and artistic learning it seeds emotional well being for the children (and teachers alike)!
