Rhythm sticks
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! Last week the children circled around our big classroom drum to help the teacher read a story that had drums and then the children shared what their music sounded like and we tried to repeat students' beats as a group. In following the children's interests we got out our classroom rhythm sticks today and again took turns creating beats and trying out each other's beats. It was a lot of fun. In Reggio fashion we also intentionally tie children's interests into different areas of learning so we used the rhythm sticks to click out syllables in songs and in each child's name which is a skill that helps with literacy development. Learning is so much more fun when it is driven by student interest!
Have a wonderful day!
