The Language of Clay
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! Exciting news from the Oak Room, we finally have our mini clay atelier up and running in our classroom! Today was our first day of working with the "messy" clay and several students got to try out the feel of working with the clay. Intelligent materials are materials that are very open-ended in their use and offer a wide variety of opportunities and imagination. Clay is certainly a valuable intelligent material that offers children a chance to feel and create their ideas, interact with them and working at the table gives children a wonderful place to hold discussions and share their ideas. We will be using clay regularly in the Oak Room and couldn't be more excited to finally have the space ready to use. We can't wait to see how the children share their imaginations!
