How will we use the message log?

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  We have been reading and discussing the book Dear Bunny in meeting and the students decided that we need a message log for our classroom.  Yesterday at the forest CH found a hollow log for us to use as our classroom message log.  Today the children discussed the log and are divided as to whether the log we found will be big enough to use or if we need to find a different message log.  So, as with all important questions, we voted as to whether we should try to use our log and see if it works or if we should not try to use it and trying out the log won the election.  We have started discussions about how we will use the message log and the children have started to share ideas.  So far they have determined that they can leave messages for each other in the log but they also decided that they need to write the name of who the message is for on the message so that it can get to the correct person.  We will continue ongoing discussions about how to use the message log and whether it will need to be modified or replaced.  Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of how we will eventually decide to use the message log.  ;)

We spend a lot of time playing outside today because it was just too beautiful not to!

Birthday Celebration and Creative Morning

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  It is important to us in the Oak Room that all children are celebrated so we have started celebrating our summer birthday friends.  August birthdays were celebrated at the beginning of the year and we are now celebrating June and July birthdays during May.  We had a great time celebrating XH this morning with movie and popcorn! Self Portrait Work & Another Guest Reader

Good afternoon, Oak room families! Today some children had the opportunity to work on their self portrait paintings. It is amazing to see the amount of growth in the children's detailed work since we first did this project in the Fall! We are excited to put our pictures on these pieces and get them displayed soon. We also had another fabulous guest reader this morning! G.B.'s mom came and read a few stories to the class. Thank you so much for visiting, Ms. Kylie! Friends had some fun in the gym this morning, too. It's hard to be stuck inside during these rainy Spring days, but we are making the most of our indoor spaces. It was a fantastic morning! The First Day!

     Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! We had a fun morning getting to know the school and talking through and practicing our school routines. We took a tour of the building and spent some time "at the park" (the children were calling the new playscape that park). It is beautiful to see the children help each other and take care of each other.  Any time one of the children was sad there were others ready to comfort them and help them feel better and encourage them to join in play.  We are very excited to watch new and old friendships among the students grow this year.  Many of you have emailed family photos or sent them in brightwheel, thank you for that.  We will get those printed and laminated to use in our classroom.  The children enjoy having a photo of their family that they can use for comfort, for drawing, to share their families with other students, etc.  Please feel free to email or brightwheel a family photo if you have not yet....
