Neighborhood Nature Walk

Hi Oak room families!  We hope your day has been as fantastic as ours has been!

We went on a nature walk around the neighborhood.  It was such a beautiful morning and the weather couldn't have been better.  As we headed out GP said "we're going on a w-a-l-k, that spells walk!" We certainly enjoyed every minute of our beautiful nature walk!

Along the way the children found lots of cool nature, beautiful colored leaves in various shapes and sizes, many sticks and small acorns.

We were so excited to see the chickens!

"Hey! There's a light in there!"

We couldn't resist this tree as we walked past the forest.

We stopped at the top of the forest and the children loved every moment!  We think this might become their new favorite climbing tree!


They played fun games of chase and  hide and seek.



These friends above found some interesting bark at the base of this tree stump.
These friends love hearing the leaves crackle as they crush them in their hands. 

We loved finding nature, rainbow leaves and everything about our neighborhood walk today!

Birthday Celebration and Creative Morning

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  It is important to us in the Oak Room that all children are celebrated so we have started celebrating our summer birthday friends.  August birthdays were celebrated at the beginning of the year and we are now celebrating June and July birthdays during May.  We had a great time celebrating XH this morning with movie and popcorn! Reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow for a work day for teachers. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Lunar New Year

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children have been learning about lunar new year and after the children helped repair Ms Lena’s lion last week we were able to do a lion dance as a class today.  The children listened to their own heartbeats while calm and after jumping around and then used instruments to act as the lion’s heartbeat fast and slow for different feelings of the lion. Today is the first day of Lunar New Year and the beginning of the year of the wood snake. We also enjoyed small capers today and practiced a fire drill.  We wish you a healthy and prosperous new year and hope that like the snake you can shed and leave behind that which you don’t want to bring with you into the new year!

Self Portrait Work & Another Guest Reader

Good afternoon, Oak room families! Today some children had the opportunity to work on their self portrait paintings. It is amazing to see the amount of growth in the children's detailed work since we first did this project in the Fall! We are excited to put our pictures on these pieces and get them displayed soon. We also had another fabulous guest reader this morning! G.B.'s mom came and read a few stories to the class. Thank you so much for visiting, Ms. Kylie! Friends had some fun in the gym this morning, too. It's hard to be stuck inside during these rainy Spring days, but we are making the most of our indoor spaces. It was a fantastic morning!
