Encouragement at Glen Park
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! This morning the weather was so inspiringly beautiful that Oak Room hit the road on a new adventure. The children were itching for an adventure this far into winter and were eager to explore. We carefully considered potential journeys and firm in our knowledge that these are competent and capable children we headed for Glen Park. Several things called to the children along the way including their houses, roads to their house, soccer camp, Sculpture Park, Barbre Park, and all of the little exciting details along the way. Children announced all of these things on their cheerful journey with the most exciting surprise being a train that came as we walked towards the tracks but nothing could compare to the sheer joy exploding from children as they raced towards the climbing equipment at the park. The park provided climbing challenges that children were ready to face head on but were nervous about and the children and teachers alike found ourselves encouraging, supporting and cheering on the efforts of children to face challenges and they did! Children took it slowly, one foot at a time and reached the top of the structures and beamed proudly. It was a morning of encouragement and accomplishment and one the children have asked to do again. How lucky we are to have such wonderful places within walking distance of our school!
