Gold Paper and A Celebration

We covered a table with new material today and wondered what might come of it. Several friends came over quite inquisitively asking what it was and what are we going to do with it. BW excitedly shouted out "Gold Paper!" The friends began to explore the paper by touching, feeling and rubbing it. They conversed with each other making comments on how the paper felt and even noticed that the paper could make a reflection.
NN - It feels bright like the sun.
JB - It feels like popped paper.
GP - It feels like dry dirt because it's smooth and kind of bumpy.
EO - It feels like the ocean.
AV - It's like a reflection of your hands. Do you see it?
EO - It's really bumpy and my hands kind of reflect like the gold paper.

After the friends finished conversing about the gold paper, we talked about how we could use this new material with other materials to create something. EO said "What story can you tell using this gold paper?" Well, there you have it! Great question for all the friends from a friend. EO chose and set up some materials at the table and then the magic began. Here's a few short stories that were made using the gold paper.

Jack and Annie are going to free Morgan from her spell. She's around the rainbow and all the rocks around here make the rainbow appear and that will free Morgan from her spell.

KD - The people are coming in my castle to look around.

EO - Jack and Annie are going to the castle.  They had to swim through the ocean right here (pic on the left) to get to the castle.  They came to the castle to look around, you know how guest come and take a tour? That's what they were doing, taking a tour of the castle.
AV - All of these pebbles will lead you somewhere magical.  There's a lot of paths but no one knows where they lead to.  Do you see the lights from the paper? It's a lantern to the kingdom and it makes magic to them so that they have magical powers to protect the kingdom.
It's really great to hear their wonderful stories!

Lastly, we celebrated our friend OH birthday today. OH requested a bubble party with his friends and brought a favorite book for us to read to the class. What a joyful celebration and that's how we ended our beautiful day!

Have a wonderful afternoon!
