Lunar New Year

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children have been learning about lunar new year and after the children helped repair Ms Lena’s lion last week we were able to do a lion dance as a class today.  The children listened to their own heartbeats while calm and after jumping around and then used instruments to act as the lion’s heartbeat fast and slow for different feelings of the lion. Today is the first day of Lunar New Year and the beginning of the year of the wood snake. We also enjoyed small capers today and practiced a fire drill.

We wish you a healthy and prosperous new year and hope that like the snake you can shed and leave behind that which you don’t want to bring with you into the new year!
