Safe Touch
Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! We had the opportunity to participate in a safe touch presentation this morning in the collaboratory which included discussions about how to be safe with our bodies and how to keep our bodies safe. Among other things, we learned and practiced a 3 step process if someone touches our bodies in a way that is not okay that we first use an outside voice to say "No!" or "Stop it!" then second we get away from that person and third is to tell a trusted grown up about what happened. The children got a chance to think about all of their trusted grownups that they can talk to.
Children continue to request sewing so today we practiced hand sewing beads onto coffee filters. The children enhance activities with their own inspiration so it is not only fine motor development but they get to plan their piece, incorporate patterns, problem solve getting everything to stay together, learn from each other and so much more! The children can wrap so many different aspects of learning into their interests and bring a lot of joy and beauty to their learning.
Have a wonderful day!
