Family Friday

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! We are ending the Week of the Young Child with Family Friday.  The children drew pictures of their family or pictures for their family and discussed what they loved about their family.

CH: "I love my parents"

LO: "My mommy and my daddy they says 'Do you wanna cook with us?' and me and Emma always say 'yes' and we share the food"

GK: "I'm kinda glad that they go away for a while cause then I get to spend time with my grandma"

RN: "I love my mommy and my daddy and my sister and Angel and Zena"

DY: "My moms always give me tickly tickles"

IF: "I love my baby brother and my dad sometimes plays tickle monster"

TF: "Last time my dad took me to a new park and I saw AF there"

HH: "Obie and mama give me the best tickles and I love Obie and mama and Lizzy"

KBS: "I love them"

JF: "I love how my family gives me a sandwich cookie and TV"

GM: "My dad and my mommy and my puppy Kingsley"

GI: "I like how my brother walks"

CS: "Every time I ask my dad if he wants to do a tickle fight with me I try to win but he always wins, I always come in first and my sister comes in next"

PK: "I like going mountain biking and I like seeing the snakes on the trail and I like going to school"

BW: "I like my brother because instead of a birthday we're gonna do something fun"

OD: "My mama is my favorite person"

NN: "They show me rainbows all of the time after it rains"

AF: "My brother shows me tricks every time that are so cool"

JG: "The play on the swings"

Birthday Celebration and Creative Morning

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  It is important to us in the Oak Room that all children are celebrated so we have started celebrating our summer birthday friends.  August birthdays were celebrated at the beginning of the year and we are now celebrating June and July birthdays during May.  We had a great time celebrating XH this morning with movie and popcorn! Reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow for a work day for teachers. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Lunar New Year

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children have been learning about lunar new year and after the children helped repair Ms Lena’s lion last week we were able to do a lion dance as a class today.  The children listened to their own heartbeats while calm and after jumping around and then used instruments to act as the lion’s heartbeat fast and slow for different feelings of the lion. Today is the first day of Lunar New Year and the beginning of the year of the wood snake. We also enjoyed small capers today and practiced a fire drill.  We wish you a healthy and prosperous new year and hope that like the snake you can shed and leave behind that which you don’t want to bring with you into the new year!

Self Portrait Work & Another Guest Reader

Good afternoon, Oak room families! Today some children had the opportunity to work on their self portrait paintings. It is amazing to see the amount of growth in the children's detailed work since we first did this project in the Fall! We are excited to put our pictures on these pieces and get them displayed soon. We also had another fabulous guest reader this morning! G.B.'s mom came and read a few stories to the class. Thank you so much for visiting, Ms. Kylie! Friends had some fun in the gym this morning, too. It's hard to be stuck inside during these rainy Spring days, but we are making the most of our indoor spaces. It was a fantastic morning!
