Storytime and Capers

Good afternoon, Oak Room family!  Today we had our special last capers before winter break where each classroom offered a different winter movie and the classrooms combined ingredients to create a small winter snack mix for the children to enjoy with the movies.  After capers the students got to have a special story time in the collaboratory with our office staff (Ms. Heather, Ms. Angie, Ms. Amanda and Ms. Julia) and enjoyed winter stories by the nice cozy "fireplace".  We are looking forward to listening to the Bristol Bravos concert tomorrow and creating glow in the dark northern lights for our classroom to enjoy at rest time.

The First Day!

 Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! It was an exciting first day of meeting new friends and reconnecting with old friends.  The children started the process of creating classroom agreements and that process will continue over several meetings until we have a final set of classroom agreements.  We spent time playing in the Oak Room, we toured the school building and had a great time outside this morning.  This has been a fantastic beginning of school! Lunar New Year

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children have been learning about lunar new year and after the children helped repair Ms Lena’s lion last week we were able to do a lion dance as a class today.  The children listened to their own heartbeats while calm and after jumping around and then used instruments to act as the lion’s heartbeat fast and slow for different feelings of the lion. Today is the first day of Lunar New Year and the beginning of the year of the wood snake. We also enjoyed small capers today and practiced a fire drill.  We wish you a healthy and prosperous new year and hope that like the snake you can shed and leave behind that which you don’t want to bring with you into the new year!

Self Portrait Work & Another Guest Reader

Good afternoon, Oak room families! Today some children had the opportunity to work on their self portrait paintings. It is amazing to see the amount of growth in the children's detailed work since we first did this project in the Fall! We are excited to put our pictures on these pieces and get them displayed soon. We also had another fabulous guest reader this morning! G.B.'s mom came and read a few stories to the class. Thank you so much for visiting, Ms. Kylie! Friends had some fun in the gym this morning, too. It's hard to be stuck inside during these rainy Spring days, but we are making the most of our indoor spaces. It was a fantastic morning!
