Picnic and Play at Larson Park

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  It's hard to believe that next week is the last week of the school year already!  Today we had an end of the year celebration picnic with the students at Larson Park.  It was a long walk but the children were very excited about it and and we got there with plenty of time to play.  We wanted to thank all of the parents for getting the kids here this morning in time to get ready and get out the door so we could enjoy more time at the park.  A few of the children commented that it was the best day ever and the teachers would have to agree.  The weather was sunny and beautiful, we had snacks as well as sack lunches at the park (and more snacks when we returned to school) so everyone was well fed and feeling good.  We have fun celebrations planned for each day next week to celebrate our final week together of the 2024-2025 school year.  Please note that Wednesday is of next week is a Pajama Day in the Oak Room and Friday is a Bring a Toy Day (nothing electronic, no weapons, and nothing expensive or overly special that would be devastating if it was lost or broken, please).  We have been honored to watch your children grow during this past school year!

Birthday Celebration and Creative Morning

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  It is important to us in the Oak Room that all children are celebrated so we have started celebrating our summer birthday friends.  August birthdays were celebrated at the beginning of the year and we are now celebrating June and July birthdays during May.  We had a great time celebrating XH this morning with movie and popcorn! Reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow for a work day for teachers. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Lunar New Year

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children have been learning about lunar new year and after the children helped repair Ms Lena’s lion last week we were able to do a lion dance as a class today.  The children listened to their own heartbeats while calm and after jumping around and then used instruments to act as the lion’s heartbeat fast and slow for different feelings of the lion. Today is the first day of Lunar New Year and the beginning of the year of the wood snake. We also enjoyed small capers today and practiced a fire drill.  We wish you a healthy and prosperous new year and hope that like the snake you can shed and leave behind that which you don’t want to bring with you into the new year!

Self Portrait Work & Another Guest Reader

Good afternoon, Oak room families! Today some children had the opportunity to work on their self portrait paintings. It is amazing to see the amount of growth in the children's detailed work since we first did this project in the Fall! We are excited to put our pictures on these pieces and get them displayed soon. We also had another fabulous guest reader this morning! G.B.'s mom came and read a few stories to the class. Thank you so much for visiting, Ms. Kylie! Friends had some fun in the gym this morning, too. It's hard to be stuck inside during these rainy Spring days, but we are making the most of our indoor spaces. It was a fantastic morning!
