Rocket Launch

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! The children are pretty excited about today's rocket launch and rockets were all the buzz at today's capers.  We were disappointed to see that it was too late in the day for us to watch at school, hopefully we can bring up a video of the launch tomorrow to see.  The children were inspired to build rocket ships out of bristle blocks, paint rocket ships, build engines and jet packs for rockets, panels, controls and studying the shape of rockets.  Some children had people sticking their heads out of the rocketship window.  It will be fun to see which of these things are included in the real rocket launch and what else we notice in the launch.

Birthday Celebration and Creative Morning

Good afternoon, Oak Room Family!  It is important to us in the Oak Room that all children are celebrated so we have started celebrating our summer birthday friends.  August birthdays were celebrated at the beginning of the year and we are now celebrating June and July birthdays during May.  We had a great time celebrating XH this morning with movie and popcorn! Reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow for a work day for teachers. Have a wonderful long weekend!

The First Day!

     Good afternoon, Oak Room Family! We had a fun morning getting to know the school and talking through and practicing our school routines. We took a tour of the building and spent some time "at the park" (the children were calling the new playscape that park). It is beautiful to see the children help each other and take care of each other.  Any time one of the children was sad there were others ready to comfort them and help them feel better and encourage them to join in play.  We are very excited to watch new and old friendships among the students grow this year.  Many of you have emailed family photos or sent them in brightwheel, thank you for that.  We will get those printed and laminated to use in our classroom.  The children enjoy having a photo of their family that they can use for comfort, for drawing, to share their families with other students, etc.  Please feel free to email or brightwheel a family photo if you have not yet....

Self Portrait Work & Another Guest Reader

Good afternoon, Oak room families! Today some children had the opportunity to work on their self portrait paintings. It is amazing to see the amount of growth in the children's detailed work since we first did this project in the Fall! We are excited to put our pictures on these pieces and get them displayed soon. We also had another fabulous guest reader this morning! G.B.'s mom came and read a few stories to the class. Thank you so much for visiting, Ms. Kylie! Friends had some fun in the gym this morning, too. It's hard to be stuck inside during these rainy Spring days, but we are making the most of our indoor spaces. It was a fantastic morning!
